Fireside Festive Season with ROKA

(Hong Kong, 14 October 2009) – ROKA is warming up for a cozy fireside festive season around its Japanese robata grill at Pacific Place, complete with a Christmas Menu twinning western delicasies with the restaurant's premium signature specialties.

The festive menu complementing ROKA's popular charcoal grill favourites is served from November 1, priced at HK$888.

The 5-course gastronomic feast (set to be the main menu on 24 and 31 December) includes premium delicacies such as caviar and prized Toro with a sushi and sashimi platter, foie gras and quail skewers, and grilled langoustine.

A highlight is Butterfish tataki salad, a unique new dish not often seen in Hong Kong due to the scarcity of the ingredients.

Specialty tempura is also on the menu which will be showcasing both premium ingredients and enticing new ROKA dishes. Served until Christmas Eve, the celebratory menu is completed with a platter of creative, homemade desserts.

For those that prefer to stick to the comforting basics, ROKA's a la carte menu also continues to be served around the warmth of the restaurant's signature robata grill throughout the festive season.

For Christmas celebrations, early evening Happy Hour “38 @ ROKA” at the laid back bar features a selection of quality white and red wines by the glass, Japanese beers, ROKA’s signature Mojitos, grilled skewers and snacks at HK$ 38 per order between 3 to 8pm.

ROKA’s bar is also ideal for a gathering with friends over Christmas, whether for after-work drinks or a light snack while shopping. The bar features premium sakes, signature shochus made from ancient Japanese spirits and specialty cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails and extensive wine cellar.

Named after the Japanese words for a gathering place where people meet to socialize around a welcoming, burning fire, ROKA is renowned for extending the Japanese dining experience beyond sashimi, sushi and tempura to charcoal-grilled quality meats, poultry, seafood and seasonal vegetables.

ABOUT ROKA Hong Kong

Located at the basement level of Pacific Place, the venue's signature dishes include delicious meats from the Robata charcoal grill such as Kochijan fuumi no kohitsuji - Lamb cutlets with hot pepper spices and Gindara saikyo-zuke no kushiyaki – Black cod skewers with gingered saikyo miso. Robata skewers are also served fresh from the grill.

In addition to the Robata items, the menu includes market-fresh sashimi and maki sushi rolls along with a selection of unique ROKA snacks, salads, rice and noodles, as well as specialties such gyoza dishes.

ROKA is minimally styled using materials and design elements symbolic of the Japanese Charcoal Robata grill combining natural organic materials such as wood, soil, rice paper, rock and rusted iron.

The concept is authentic but not traditional, with the restaurant emphasizing ingredients and flavour, simple and appealing presentation using ethnic Japanese crockery and a menu designed for sharing.

“At ROKA Hong Kong we’ve created a casual, informal and sociable dining experience with a vibrant and energetic atmosphere” said Rainer Becker, the award-winning chef, who co-founded the concept with the Waney family.

ROKA Hong Kong is open daily from 11.30am – 10.30pm.
