(Beijing, September 17, 2009) — The trendy International steakhouse The Meat & Wine Co Beijing today celebrates the official opening of its first outlet in Asia. The swanky modern steakhouse concept was the vision of two of South Africa's most successful restaurateurs, Costa Tomazos and Bradley Michael, who wanted to provide a distinctive steakhouse dining experience appealing to meat lovers in a sophisticated yet relaxed environment.
“This has been a much anticipated event,” says Bradley Michael “We have always had our eye on launching a flagship in Asia to complement the huge successes of our other outlets in the Middle East, Europe and South Africa. We are very fortunate to have had this opportunity to fill an untapped niche for local & international businesses and residents here in Beijing.”
Guests of honour at the official opening include the Ambassador of South Africa and this invite-only event is set to draw a mix of corporate and local executives, alongside national press, media and celebrities sharing a mouthwatering feast complete with specialty drinks, great wines and beer. Drummers from Uganda will greet guests upon arrival and a South African band will provide light entertainment throughout the night. Guests will be invited to mingle and explore the various sections of the restaurant which will offer diners different options and experiences including one of the private rooms ‘Monsoon’ that has been converted into a dessert bar and ‘Oxygen’ being used to display the impressive history of The Meat & Wine Co and all the countries they have opened in. The much-awaited Butchery will also be unveiled and this will allow customers to personalise their meals by selecting their preferred cut and size of their meat. The meat will also be available for retail purchases to take home.
To celebrate the opening of The Meat & Wine Co Beijing, in conjunction with China’s 60th Birthday, the restaurant is launching a special promotion for the month of October. For every main course ordered, guests will receive a second main course for 60 RMB. In addition, the first 60 guests who take up this promotion will receive a gift card worth 60 RMB. The lucky 60th guest will win a private cooking lesson for six with The Meat & Wine Co Beijing’s Executive Chef Ferdy and the 660th guest who makes this booking can look forward to dining for free at The Meat & Wine Co Beijing for the entire year with the VIP Platinum Exclusive card .
