(Hong Kong, 11 March, 2009) – Japanese robata grill ROKA in Pacific Place has introduced two exciting new set lunch options suitable for any purpose: from a quick lunch visit to entertain clients, to a laid back lunch with friends. The new delicious tasting Business Lunch is available at HK$288 whilst the tempting seven-course Roka Lunch is available at HK$428.

ROKA’s Business Lunch menu (HK$288) at the casual and social venue is perfect for those who want a taster of ROKA’s raved about signature dishes.

The seven course lunch offering starts with a selection of three sashimis and raw salmon with avocado, asparagus and wasabi tobiko maki zushi. A traditional white or red miso soup is then followed by a crispy tempura selection of prawn, edamame and sweet potatoes.

The highlight of the menu is a simply divine main course of black cod skewer, with gingered saikyo miso served alongside grilled tomatoes, bean sprouts and wafu dressing. To finish off - a dessert of sake poached pear with vanilla baked cream is a hit amongst guests.

ROKA’s Lunch set menu (HK$428) showcases the restaurant's premier Japanese specialties and more in a delicious seven course menu.

Starting with a selection of fresh premium sushi and sashimi, the menu also features prime Wagyu beef tempura maki roll. White or red miso soup then leads into the prized negitoro donburi with semi fatty tuna and quail egg, followed by grilled mushrooms with garlic soy and ponzu.

Diners have a choice of three main courses – all equally tempting - grilled pork chop with ume miso glaze; lamb cutlets with hot pepper spices; or grilled sea bass. The finalé presents itself as ROKA’s signature strawberry jasmine sundae with yuzu granite – a dessert that is hard not to love.

ROKA’s menu is constantly evolving for those who thrive on trying something new. ROKA’s a la carte menu boasts exotic seafood and vegetarian dishes adding allure to the already scrumptious menu of ROKA’s famed charcoal-grilled meats and skewers complemented by ROKA’s homemade sauces. Dishes are highlighted by ROKA’s freshly made non-alcoholic cleansers - the perfect addition to any meal.

Desserts are also a popular choice at ROKA featuring tasty treats such as sake poached pear with vanilla baked cream and valrhona chocolate, espresso and hazelnut with banana ice cream. ROKA’s afternoon tea set (HK$88) also features delicious sweet treats.

ABOUT ROKA Hong Kong

ROKA is named after the Japanese words for a gathering place where people meet to socialize (RO) and a welcoming, burning fire (KA).

Located at the basement level of Pacific Place, the venue's signature dishes are quick to spot on the menu and are indicated with ROKA’s logo. Dishes not to be missed include delicious meats from the Robata charcoal grill such as Kochijan fuumi no kohitsuji - Lamb cutlets with hot pepper spices and Gindara saikyo-zuke no kushiyaki – Black cod skewers with gingered saikyo miso. Robata skewers are also served fresh from the grill.

In addition to the Robata items, the menu includes market-fresh sashimi and maki sushi rolls along with a selection of unique ROKA snacks, salads, rice and noodles, as well as specialties such gyoza dishes.

The bar features a wine cellar housing over 500 bottles of wines, including 25 wines by the glass, plus non-alcoholic cleansers, unique cocktails and a wide selection of sake and traditional well-being tonics.

ROKA is minimally styled using materials and design elements symbolic of the Japanese Charcoal Robata grill combining natural organic materials such as wood, soil, rice paper, rock and rusted iron.

The concept is authentic but not traditional, with the restaurant emphasizing ingredients and flavour, simple and appealing presentation using ethnic Japanese crockery and a menu designed for sharing.

“At ROKA Hong Kong we’ve created a casual, informal and sociable dining experience with a vibrant and energetic atmosphere” said Rainer Becker, the award-winning chef, who co-founded the concept with the Waney family.
