Internationally Renowned Steakhouse Group The Meat & Wine Co Set to Open its Doors in Asia

The Meat & Wine Co, an international steakhouse renowned for its superior beef, superb wines and outstanding service, opens its flagship Asian outlet on 20 March 2009, at Beijing’s premier integrated lifestyle development, the Legation Quarter. The Legation Quarter, housed in the former compound of the American Legation, is an upscale and trendy property developed by Handel Lee, a leading entrepreneur and the man behind many other significant lifestyle projects in China. Legation Quarter presents China’s leading luxury dining and lifestyle experiences, including a contemporary gallery, luxury brands, world-class restaurants and a top-tier business club.

“At The Meat & Wine Co Beijing, the delectable food and wine selection accompanied, by the spectacular venue and unwavering commitment to service excellence offers guests a very exclusive and distinct dining experience like no other. We are very excited to welcome our guests in Beijing,” said General Manager, Stan Gaberov.

As the name suggests, The Meat & Wine Co specialises in prime cuts of superior quality beef, complemented by an extensive range of excellent wine. Guests can expect premium quality and the freshest of produce. The meat is prepared and aged based on an in-house formula that has proven a success for over 40 years. If beef is not your thing, the restaurant also offers a delicious selection of seafood and poultry dishes.

The wine selection at The Meat & Wine Co Beijing is a blend of South African and the very best of International New World brands. Wines are carefully selected and come mostly from small-sized family-owned wineries. Among them, a family-owned winery is the “Domaine du Tix”, a boutique winery of six hectares in the French Rhone Valley, producing the finest quality wines featured in some of the best restaurants in France. The extensive food and wine selection and unwavering commitment to service excellence ensure that guests can look forward to an outstanding dining experience, complimented by a stunning venue.

One of the significant highlights of the restaurant is Beijing’s first ever wine tunnel, designed by Singapore-based design firm Silverfox Studios. Silverfox Studios is also responsible for the overall interior design concept of the restaurant. The glass wine tunnel structure creates a separation between the entrance area and waiting zone, the bar and bar lounge, and the restaurant itself. The multi-layered sheets of glass, in a signature Meat & Wine Co red, boasts lighting effects creating shadow and intrigue and offers guests a voyeuristic experience as they watch the activities outside whilst enjoying a private dining experience within their own private rooms.

Prime locations are paramount to The Meat & Wine Co, which prides itself on creating stunning restaurants that are very different from traditional steakhouses. The Beijing outlet is no exception. Silverfox Studios has created a delightful juxtaposition between the historical site surrounding the restaurant and the chic modern glass building of the restaurant itself. Solid stone, timber, leather and coloured glass are layered to create depth and texture within the restaurant.
The restaurant also boasts a breathtaking space spread over two levels, appealing to the different taste of guests. The ground floor will feature a more open and social setting with a bar, catered for the young and trendy. The first floor is comprised of private dining areas with a private lift entrance designed for businessmen from the local and international business communities.

Situated in the very heart of the Beijing capital and complemented by the unique design of the restaurant, The Meat & Wine Co Beijing will offer guests a truly delicious dining experience.
