aqua restaurant group's stunning northern Chinese restaurant, Hutong, has once again topped the dining charts – this time with a prestigious MICHELIN star in the first Michelin Guide to launch for Hong Kong and Macau 2009.
In honour of the esteemed win, the restaurant has announced an exclusive celebratory menu of signature dishes, suitably named the “Best of the Best”, available from January 9th to the end of March 2009.
‘Best of the Best” is available as a stand-alone menu of dishes for HKD880, or as a fine wine and champagne pairing menu for an additional HKD420 per person.
Signature dishes at the 200-seat restaurant include Crispy de-boned lamb ribs; Crystal King prawns with salty egg yolk & crab roe, Bamboo clams steeped in Chinese rose wine & chili padi, Young asparagus shoots dipped in a spicy sesame crust, and Crispy soft shell crabs with Szechuan red pepper.
All of these can be enjoyed, plus many more in the exclusive “Best of the Best” menu alongside Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Yellow Label Brut, and wines from France and Australia for those who opt to pair. Also becoming legendary is Hutong’s Peach Wine.

MICHELIN hails Hutong, named after Beijing’s historic but fast-disappearing courtyard alleyways, as "a hip destination" with "an original menu".
It praises the restaurants Raise the Red Lantern décor, avant-garde cuisine and "fantastic vista of the harbour" from the 28th floor of One Peking Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and its interior of "… carved antique wood, silk curtains, red lanterns and cosy alcoves with doors from traditional Hutong houses."
The guide to Hong Kong and Macau is Michelin's second in Asia, following the debut of a Tokyo guide last year.
Hutong's recognition in the Michelin guide follows hot-on-the-heels of being ranked among the Top 20 restaurants in Asia in the inaugural edition of The Miele Guide.
Set against a breathtaking skyline, Hutong evokes a historic Chinese mood with antique furniture, intimate tables and private rooms secluded by traditional wooden screens and ‘moon’ gates. Even the bathrooms have wooden water containers and bamboo pipes, creating the feel of ‘old China’.
The sense of adventure and sheer creativity continues in Hutong’s ‘contemporary northern Chinese cuisine’ inspired by the culinary styles of the Peking and Shangdong provinces.
Among numerous other accolades, Hutong has been named among Hong Kong’s best restaurants by Australia’s Vogue Entertaining + Travel and US-based Travel + Leisure.
