(Hong Kong, 31 October 2008) – ROKA, Hong Kong’s quick, casual and social Japanese Robata Grill, is warming up the festive season at Pacific Place with warm offerings from the grill, creative desserts, unique cocktails, a variety of sake and well-being shochu tonics.
Around the warmth of the restaurant's signature charcoal grill, conveniently located in the centre of the restaurant, ROKA extends the Japanese dining experience beyond sashimi, sushi and tempura to charcoal-grilled quality meats, poultry, seafood and seasonal vegetables.
Named after the Japanese words for a gathering place where people meet to socialize and a welcoming, burning fire, ROKA’s offerings suit any desire - at anytime - for anyone.
Daily Lunch at ROKA tempts guests with quick informal set lunch menus. Tasty Japanese Donburi sets start at HK$ 120. Set lunches including mains of either grilled beef or salmon are also available for HK$ 188 or HK$ 168 respectively.
A new ROKA business lunch priced at HK$ 288 features four courses including a selection of Sashimi, crispy tempura and one of ROKA signatures, the black cod skewer with gingered saikyo miso followed by a tempting sake-poached pear with vanilla baked cream.
ROKA’s desserts are creative and homemade. A refreshing Jasmine and Strawberry Sundae with Yuzu Granite or a Roast pineapple spiced Cake with Coconut-Lime Sorbet are perfect excuses for a quick break from Christmas shopping in the Afternoon.
Early evening Happy Hour “38 @ ROKA” at the laid back bar, features a selection of quality white and red wines by the glass, Japanese beers, ROKA’s signature Mojitos, grilled skewers and snacks at HK$ 38 per order between 3 to 8pm.
ROKA’s bar is also ideal for a gathering with friends over Christmas, whether for after-work drinks or a light snack while shopping. The bar features a wine cellar housing over 500 bottles of wines, non-alcoholic cleansers and signature shochus made from ancient Japanese spirits are a hit with guests and freshly made cocktails are not to be missed.
ROKA’s warm atmosphere and cuisine makes it the perfect place for a cozy festive Dinner with friends and family during the festive holiday season.
ABOUT ROKA Hong Kong
Located at the basement level of Pacific Place, the venue's signature dishes include delicious meats from the Robata charcoal grill such as Kochijan fuumi no kohitsuji - Lamb cutlets with hot pepper spices and Gindara saikyo-zuke no kushiyaki – Black cod skewers with gingered saikyo miso. Robata skewers are also served fresh from the grill.
In addition to the Robata items, the menu includes market-fresh sashimi and maki sushi rolls along with a selection of unique ROKA snacks, salads, rice and noodles, as well as specialties such gyoza dishes.
ROKA is minimally styled using materials and design elements symbolic of the Japanese Charcoal Robata grill combining natural organic materials such as wood, soil, rice paper, rock and rusted iron.
The concept is authentic but not traditional, with the restaurant emphasizing ingredients and flavour, simple and appealing presentation using ethnic Japanese crockery and a menu designed for sharing.
“At ROKA Hong Kong we’ve created a casual, informal and sociable dining experience with a vibrant and energetic atmosphere” said Rainer Becker, the award-winning chef, who co-founded the concept with the Waney family.
