JIA Shanghai Celebrating Christmas & New Year in Style

Designer boutique hotel JIA Shanghai is celebrating Christmas and New Year in inimitable style, culminating in a chic countdown party with free-flowing bubbly.

Festivities begin on Christmas Eve, with signature Italian restaurant Issimo serving a six-course menu priced at RMB588.

Guests are welcomed with Veuve Clicquot champagne and an appetizer of pan-seared scallops and foie gras.

Traditional ravioli in capon soup introduces two pasta specialties, fresh pasta filled with pumpkin, ricotta cheese and black truffle, and home–made “straccetti” tossed in shrimp and clam ragù sauce. Peach sorbet refreshes palates for main course choices of either steamed sea bass fillet or braised chick beef. Dessert is a sumptuous dark chocolate mousse with puffed rice cookie.

Christmas Day lunch, priced at RMB378, starts with a salad of cauliflower, home-made “sott’aceti”, capsicum, olives and anchovies, followed by octopus, potatoes and slow roasted tomatoes with lemon and parsley dressing. The pasta course is "Maltagliati” tossed with shrimp and string beans. Main course choices are roast rolled chicken capon stuffed with liver or roasted sea bream fillet. Dessert is a rich ricotta cheese and raisin cake.

Welcoming 2009 on New Year's Eve is a six-course menu priced at RMB688. Diners are greeted with Veuve Clicquot champagne, oysters and gorgonzola cheese terrine with nuts, grape preserve and toasted pan brioche. Risotto with scallops and home-made beef-stuffed ravioli follow, before main course choices of either monkfish filet or traditional “cotechino” served with lentils and marjoram carrot flan. To top off this festive menu is a dessert of pumpkin mousse and “amaretti” millefuille with bourbon vanilla sauce.

To celebrate the New Year through the countdown, JIA Shanghai is serving free-flowing sparkling prosecco until 2am for a package price of just RMB288 per person -- both for dinner guests and for those who want to join the party without dinner. The price includes a traditional Italian treat at midnight, cotechino with lentils, a dish said to bring luck, warmth, peace and happiness.
